New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2016-17:Elle Tahari
Past Modern is the inspiration for the Fall 2016 Woman’s Collection that juxtaposes elements from the past with silhouettes of the future. Victorian high collars, velvet burnouts and lace are mixed with a dose of masculine and sport. A raw edged tweed jacket over a Victorian lace tie front blouse is paired with a narrow ultra-suede track pant. A cropped stove pipe pant with a double-faced wool cape. A Victorian sleeved pinched jacket with lace appliqué over a floor length lace skirt and the new Military coat all meet at the intersection of past and future.
Other fabrics include Velvet devoré, printed crinkle silk chiffon, shearling and leather are used in colors of frost, iron, granite and black with highlights of stargazer blue, boudoir, aubergine and winter blossom red. Flat pointy leather lace up shoes, a modern take on the oxford or a knee high suede tasseled knee high boot complete the look that give the collection its timeless quality.
